Royal College Colombo won over the crowds at Pallekele as they beat Trinity College 23 points to 22 during the first leg of the 71st Bradby Shield encounter.
Trinity college playing on home turf took the lead early on in the encounter and led 12 points to 10 by lemons.
Royal College who were not far behind raised their offensive game and were able to secure 13 points after the turn around while Trinity only managed to score 10 points. At the long whistle the scores read 23-22 in favor of the visitors.
The second leg of the Bradby will be played at the Royal College Grounds. The team with the highest aggregate score will go on to secure victory of the prestigious Bradby shield.
Trinity College , Kandy has won the coveted Bradby Shield on 39 occasions while Royal College , Colombo has won it on 30 occasions.
