The Army Presidential Security Division, established by Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been dissolved with effect from 30th April. This was confirmed to News1st by the Military spokesperson Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera.

He went on to note that the troops have been re-directed to their respective Regiments and Units. However, all measures have been taken to ensure necessary security to the former President with required security personnel as per directives of the Ministry of Defense.

He also noted that a new unit will be deployed for the security of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
