Aid collected by Mahabodhi society for Nepal victims handed over to PM’s office

Essential food items and other goods that were collected after an appeal was made through the MTV/MBC Network by the Chairman of the Mahabodhi Society, Venerable Banagala Upatissa Thero, to be distributed among the people of Nepal were handed over to the Prime Ministers office on Friday (May 08th).

Secretary of the Prime Ministers Office Saman Ekanayake accepted the goods worth  Rs.2 Million. The event to hand over the goods was held at the Mahabodhi Agrsravaka Viharaya.

Chairman of the Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thero stated that soon after the devastating earthquake struck Nepal a request was made by the Prime Ministers office to gather essential items such as dry rations, water and clean clothing to aid the earthquake victims. He went on to note that he was glad to have been able to assist the innocent victims of Nepal in their time of needs through the Mahabodhi Society.
