UPFA Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardene has called on the current administration to dissolve parliament immediately and call for general elections.
MP Gunawardene noted that since the 100 day program ended on the 23rd of April , a clear announcement should be made regarding the dissolution of Parliament, instead of dragging their feet week by week. He went onto note that even Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesighe accepted in parliament that his is a minority Govt.
Dinesh Gunawardene once again called on the current administration to safeguard democracy within the country by calling for immediate elections.
Meanwhile Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara the Leader of the democratic Left front, stated that while no one is aware when the election will be held, the public eagerly awaits the opportunity to create a Government with Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister. He noted that they are awaiting for the positive response in this regard from President Sirisena.
Speaking on Wednesday’s meeting between President Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa, MP Bandula Gunawardene noted that a positive message was given from both sides that they agree to forge ahead with these discussions.
