MP Basil Rajapaksa further remanded

Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and three others were once again remanded until May 7  after they were produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate on Tuesday  May 5.

The other suspects who were remanded include the Former Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development Dr. Nihal Jayatilleke, Former Director General of the Department of Divi Neguma R.A.A.K. Ranawaka and  former Director R.P.B.Thilakasiri.

Former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa was arrested by the Colombo Financial Crimes Division on April 22  and was later remanded after he was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. Basil Rajapaksa and the three other suspects have been charged under the ‘Public Property Act’, for the misuse of funds at the Divi Neguma Department during the last regime.

After the parliamentarian was remanded, he was later moved to the prison hospital before being transferred to the National Hospital.
