A Indian bride, suspecting that her intended husband was illiterate, asked him to count money and when he failed at the task, she refused to marry him.
The incident took place on Friday when a man named Manoj was to get married in the Maritar village of Ballia.
After initial rituals, the bride called on her husband-to-be to carry out a currency counting exercise to prove his worth, according to the girl’s family.
He failed to complete the task successfully, and she subsequently called off the wedding.
Following the test, a dispute between the two parties allegedly ensued and a meeting of the village authority (locally referred to as the Panchayat) was then called.
Then groom’s family left the area for Bihar shortly after the meeting, according to the Press Trust of India.
