An army corporal who carried a gun to a meeting presided by President Maithripala Sirisena in Angunakolapelassa has been arrested.
According to police media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara, the suspect was produced before the Angunakolapelessa Magistrate yesterday and remanded until the 12th of May.
The suspect who was part of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa’s security, was discovered with a weapon at a meeting presided by the president on April 25. The weapon was discovered by the STF during a search.
The Inspector General of the Police then handed over the investigations to the CID.
