President Sirisena speaks at SLFP May Day rally

The May Day rally of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party led United People’s Freedom Alliance was held at Hyde Park, Colombo with the presence of the Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

The united May Day processions commenced from three separate locations.

The three processions commenced from the Lipton Circus, Darley Road and Dawson Street, reached Hyde Park.

Speaking at the rally, President Sirisena stated that he will use the powers vested in him to protect the rights of the working class. The president also stated that no other nation will be able to speak of Sri Lanka’s human rights and situation of democracy. He went on to note that no country will be allowed to interfere in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs.

In his speech, President Sirisena also called on the people of Sri Lanka to work together devoid of any division to build Sri Lanka in unity. His Excellency also noted that he is an individual who cannot be manipulated by anyone and added that only the people can steer him.
