Deputy Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday stated that there are false allegations emerging against him regarding a copper deal.
He went on to add that as a lawyer, this will be the last case that he will be handling. He also added that the client came to him after the was case was initially handled by Namal Rajapaksa’s law firm called RR had charged Rs.2.5 million but had done little in regard. He went on to add that inquiries for this case have been carried out for a year even though he did not directly represent this case.
He also stated that he will take legal action regarding the report in a newspaper, stating that, after being appointed as deputy minister, he has made unnecessary influences while appearing in the Court of Appea. He also stated that he will take action against such “mud-slinging’ that has been done on numerous occasions, especially with regard to an actress and an affair with a female parliamentarian.
He further added that when he called the newspaper and asked if any information had been obtained from the Customs Director General or an officer at inquiry regarding the issue, they had replied in the negative.
He also noted that he would like to request all media organisations to work more responsibly.
