A motion has been presented to the Speaker requesting that the Governor of the Central Bank be removed.
MP Bandula Gunawardena announced that the proposal which was signed by 90 parliamentarians was handed over on Tuesday.
UPFA Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena said that they proposed to the speaker to remove the Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran who was involved in the largest interest loss of Rs.45 billion to the country.
The Minister went onto say that the proposal is to debate the issue in the parliament and come to an ‘approval.’
Speaking further, he noted that they believe that the President will be able to remove the head of the country’s entire financial system.
