Speaking in Kegalle on Tuesday, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his views regarding the gazette notification issued to establish the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division.

The former president noted that this gazette is “very dangerous” as it was issued stating that a separate Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe be appointed to investigate cases of financial crimes and other major charges which will be selected only by the PM himself.

He went on to say that since this is through a gazette, he believes that the President will take action regarding the matter.

Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the Dedhigama Rajamaha Viharaya on Tuesday to attend a Bodhi Pooja.
