A group of lawyers including Attorney-at-Law Shiraz Noordeen filed a complaint at the Cinnamon Gardens Police over the use of a flag similar to the national flag. In their complaint, the lawyers cited that the minority has been neglected in the act of distorting the national flag. They added that the plegdes made by the public representatives too had been disgraced.

Speaking to the media, Attorney-at-Law Shiraz Noordeen stated that the complaint was made as citizens of the country and not on the requirement of any organisation or political need. He added that under section 120 of the Penal Code, it is an offence, where an arrest can be made without a warrant.

When News 1st made inquiries from the Police Media Spokesperson on the measures which will be taken over the complaint, he said that apart from the complaint that was made to the Cinnamon Gardens Police on Saturday, senior DIG of the Western Province has also been vested with carrying out the investigations into the complaint. ASP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that investigations will take place over both complaints.
