The National Child Protection Authority says that a special police team is to be initiated to ensure the protection of children.
Chairperson of the NCPA, Natasha Balendra said that the authority is currently holding talks with the police and the Attorney General’s Department in this regard.
Balendra said that police officers enrolled into this team would receive special training to ensure the protection of children. Speaking to News1st, the Chairperson of the NCPA said that police officers in the country are not trained to deal with children’s affairs, and that the initiation of a special unit would solve this problem.
