Former Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa arrived at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Thursday and requested for time to present facts in regard to the investigations which are being carried out over Avant-Garde Security Services and Rakna Arakshaka Lanka.
A group of people including United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarians and provincial councillors gathered opposite the commission, obstructing the entrance to the Bribery Commission and demonstrating support of the former secretary of defence.
The former secretary of defence, who arrived at the location, addressed the demonstrators saying that he is an officer who served his country with loyalty. He further stated that he is being hunted for political reasons. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa then left the premises after thanking those who gathered in support.
