Two groups of MPs from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party are in talks to facilitate a discussion between President Sirisena and former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
State Minister Dilan Perera says that all preparations are being made for the discussion.
SLFP MPs Dilan Perera, Mahinda Amaraweera , Piyasena Gamage, T.B.Ekanayake, Kumara Welgama , Mahindananda Aluthgamage and several others are in talks to facilitate the meet.
UPFA MP T.B.Ekanayake speaking on Tuesday said:
To move forward with this present trend, we reached a decision to have a discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena. We need to come into a joint discussion to decide on what the future tasks will be between President Maithripala Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa. Both have given their consent to participate in this discussion.”
Speaking to News1st, State Minister of Housing and Samurdhi Dilan Perera says that as requested by the MPs of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party they will have a discussion between President Maithripala Sirisena and Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa this week. Points such as the future of the party and facing the elections with both their efforts will be discussed. All Preparations are underway to facilitate the talks.
Meanwhile, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa notes that the President has agreed to give them a date in the near future.
