The Department of Immigration and Emigration confirmed on Friday that the Governor of the Central Bank, Arjuna Mahendran, has been prohibited from travelling overseas.
The governor’s passport had been impounded from March 20, 2015 for a period of three months.
Arjuna Mahendran who has been under the spotlight over the controversial Central Bank bond issue was summoned to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. He was questioned on Thursday for over six hours.
Leader of the Democratic Left Front, MP Vasudeva had stated that since this position was personally chosen by the Prime Minister it is up to him to make a statement as to what can be done next in this case.
