The National Transport Commission states that legal action will be taken against those who charge passengers who are travelling to their respective homes in view of the new year holiday over and beyond the requisite transport charge.
Chairman of the Commission D.S. Jayaweera stated that measures will be initiated to impose punishment under the prevailing laws.
A special transport service will be in effect on Monday April 13 as well, in view of the holiday season, to ease travel requirements of passengers.
Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Raja Gunathilake stated that steps have been taken to fulfill this requirement by utilising buses from the Colombo Pettah bus terminal.
