MP T.B.Ekanayake said on Monday that he hopes the letters sent to party seniors who were removed from the Central Working Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), will be revoked.
MPs S.M.Chandrasena, Bandula Gunawardena, T.B.Ekanayake and Salida Dissanayake were removed from the Central Working Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party over the weekend. The letters directed to the MPs, were sent bearing the signature of the President, who is also the SLFP Chairman.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Parliamentarian S.M. Chandrasena said that he hopes to seek legal action over the decision meted out against them.
A demonstration took place at the Homagama Junction on Monday against the decision taken to remove MP Bandula Gunawardean from the party’s Central Working Committee. Western Provincial Coucillors and Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha members were present for this demonstration.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Parliamentarian T.B. Ekanayake said that he hopes the letters send to the MPs including himself would be revoked.
He also said that he hopes the letters revoking the decision would be sent to the MPs after the new year.
Our attempts to contact the General Secretary of the SLFP, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and National Organiser Susil Premajayantha, to confirm these claims, proved futile.
However, speaking to the BBC Sinhala Service on Sunday, National Organiser Susil Premajayantha said he believes that a different decision can be achieved over the MPs of the Central Working Committee.
