The Sri Lanka Freedom Party MPs who were removed from the party Central Working Committee say that they will seek legal action over the decision meted out against them.
Central Working Committee membership of SLFP MPs T.B.Ekanayake, S.M.Chandrasena, Salinda Dissanayake and Bandula Gunawardena were removed.
The party chairperson had informed the MPs of this decision in the letter.
UPFA MP S.M. Chandrasena stated:
“… I received a letter through registered post yesterday. It noted that we were removed from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Working Committee. No reasons were mentioned in the letter. The letter that was sent bearing the signature of Party Chairman, President Maithripala Sirisena. There was no indication of what wrong we had committed. We hope take this matter to court and seek a relief. We have a right to do that …”
Speaking to the media on Sunday Ampara District Organiser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party , Eastern Provincial Councillor Wimalaweera Dissanayake said that he will step down from his position as a mark of protest against the decision that was made.
