According to the Hollywood reporter James Wan, the director of the Furious 7 movie which is currently in theaters, has been identified as one of the front-runners to direct the Aquaman solo film. The movie is slated to be released in July 2018.
Media reports also note that Wan has not been given a direct offer as yet but that preliminary talks have already taken place. However Wan might not be able to direct this anticipated superhero flick if Universal Studios recalls him to direct the 8th edition of the Fast and Furious franchise.
The iconic role of Aquaman will be played by Jason Momoa who rocketed to fame through his role in the Game of thrones as Dothraki King Khal Drogo and his portrayal of Conan the barbarian . To comic book fans and ardent DC followers Aquaman needs no introduction, the king of the seven seas once played a support role in the initial comics back in 1941. however with time he became a full-fledged superhero and went on to become one of the founding members of the Justice League.
He got his first break on the big screen through the 2014 animated film produced by DC titles the “Throne of Atlantis” which elaborates on the origin story of the King of Atlantis. However long before Jason Momoa gets to stun audiences as the trident wielding superhero in his stand alone film he will make appearances in Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman : Dawn of Justice and will like feature in both the Justice League movies that have been announced by DC comics.
