The President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain reiterated that he wishes to further strengthen bilateral ties between Sri Lankan and Pakistan.
President Maithripala Sirisena thanked the President of Pakistan for the concessions granted to Sri Lanka through the bilateral agreements signed between the two nations
President Maithripala Sirisena is due to arrive in the country on Tuesday, April 7,ending his official state visit to Pakistan. President Maithripala Sirisena met Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain at the presidential palace Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, Pakistan on Monday, April 6th.
Subsequently, President Maithripala Sirisena attended a state banquet hosted by the President of Pakistan. The President also attended a tree-planting programme in ‘Shakarparian’, Islamabad on Tuesday morning.
News 1st’s,Rinaz Mohammed also stated that the President, on Tuesday, visited the Taxila Museum which is 30 kilometres away from Islamabad. The museum contains various artifacts related to Buddhism such as old scriptures, sculptures, coins and ancient weapons was constructed subsequent to the discovery made by Sir John Marshall in 1913 and completed on 1928.
It also contained many statues of Lord Buddha from various periods, ancient coins, Arabic, Persian and Greek historical artifacts and military equipment. The President stated that, as a Buddhist, it was a privilege to witness ancient and sacred artifacts of Buddhism.
The President also signed the Guest Book at the Museum.
