Minister Sajith Premadasa made a statement while attending another phase of an event held to present low-interest loans to the public.
He said that those who were silent when Samurdhi funds were used for political objectives, are voicing their protest when the funds are being given to the people.
One hundred and forty five (145) low income families that come under the purview of the Divi Neguma Community-based bank zone in Beralihela, Tissamaharama, received concessionary loans of Rs.100,000 each.
Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, Sajith Premadasa, noted that he will make sure that concessionary loans are provided to the innocent … as political enemies are protesting against it.
The Minister said:
The Divi Neguma Convention was organised during the Presidential Election. The expenditure was Rs.63 million which was Samurdhi funds. No one protested when Samurdhi funds were skimmed for political objectives.
