Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa stated in Parliament on Tuesday, that the announcement of a decision on the position of Leader of the Opposition will be made after further scrutinising the matter.
The speaker also notified Parliament that the copies of 11 petitions filed before the Supreme Court on the draft 19th Amendment to the constitution, have been received by him.
JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake raised a question:
So until the scrutinization, is Nimal Siripala de Silva going to remain as the Leader of the Opposition?‘
Speaking further on the topic of ” Opposition Leader” the Speaker of the house said Why don’t you all come together and elect a leader for the Opposition?
