The recently released Furious 7 records the biggest opening night in the fourteen-year old history of the Fast & Furious franchise. This weekend the movie took $384 million worldwide, with $143.6 million coming from domestic audience.

The previous record holder was Captain America: Winter Soldier got a comparatively paltry $95 million.
In perspective, that’s more than every single movie in the Twilight saga, more than Sony’s first Spiderman movie, and far more than every single Star Wars movie got on their first weekends.

Furious 7‘s domestic launch was the biggest since 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the sixth biggest movie launch in US history, which raked in $158 million on its first weekend.

It is also stated that Furious 7 also created a new record for a Hollywood film in India. It has collected the more than ₹60 crore in the nation and the official figure it yet to be revealed. On the first two days, Furious 7 raked in ₹32.75 crore. On the release day, the Hollywood movie collected ₹16.75 crore and on the second day it earned ₹16 crore. This business, by any standards, is the highest for a Hollywood movie.
