Chanaka Welegedara equalled Chris Morris’s record of the most economical figures in T20 cricket after bowling the full quota of four overs on Sunday, April 5.

Welegedara who is playing for Tamil Union picked up four wickets for two runs in his full quota of four overs against the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in the Sri Lanka Cricket’s T20 tournament at the Colombo Cricket Club. Welegedara managed figures of four overs with two maidens for two runs and four wickets.

Chris Morris who previously claimed this record only conceded two runs in his four overs for Highveld Lions against Cape Cobras in South Africa’s Ram Slam last November. He head bowled an extra maiden but taken two wickets less to finish with figures of four over three maidens two runs and two wickets.

Defending 142, Tamil Union bundled out SSC for 97 with Welegedara hogging the limelight for most of the 15.3 overs of play.

It is also a controversial fact that Welgedara has played only two T20 matches.
