The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has pointed out that there is no necessity to change the opposition leader. General Secretary of the SLFP, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, explained the party’s stance, at a press conference convened on Wednesday.
General Secretary of SLFP Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said that there is no necessity to change Nimal Siripala de Silva, who was appointed as Opposition Leader by them.
Reporters questioned the general secretary as to what steps will be taken against members who participated in the rally at Ratnapura.
Responding to the questions raised by reporters, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said that they are members who stand for unity within the party.
Journalists also questioned on the UPFA.
National Organiser of SLFP, Susil Premajayantha added that they can achieve victory if they work together as an alliance in the upcoming elections “any election held before next April” .
He noted that their target at the upcoming parliamentary election is to acquire a majority of Parliament Power for the UPFA.
