Colombo premises to be inspected as Dengue Eradication Campaign begins

Seventeen 17,000 premises are to be inspected within the Colombo Municipality in line with the countrywide Dengue Eradication Campaign due to commence on Thursday.

Chief Medical Officer at the Colombo Municipal Council, Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni, stated that there is a high likelihood for an increase in the spread of Dengue with the onset of the forthcoming monsoon season.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health says that so far, 11,095 dengue patients have been reported this year. The Epidemiology Unit at the Health Ministry noted that the majority of patients, 3,221 to be precise, were from the Colombo District while 1,424 patients were reported from the Gampaha District and 538 from the Kalutara District

The Epidemiology Unit noted that there has been an increase in Dengue Patients was seen from the districts of Ratnapura, Ampara and Kilinochchi.
