The Colombo Intellectuals Organisation alleges that the government has not yet made public the reason for suspending the constructing of the Colombo Port City.

The Organisation emphasizes that it is disappointing that only contradicting views from various individuals are being made.

Speaking at a press conference which took place at the National Library in Colombo, Senior Lecturer of the University of Kelaniya, Mahendra Gunawardena questioned the government asking if this good governance is of any help or is it silent.

He stated that the main foreign exchange revenue sources are being closed down and accused the government of not giving any explanation. The Senior Lecturer also asked if anyone has made any clarification as to why the construction of the Colombo Port City Project was suspended. He added that the only thing the people hear are the contradicting views expressed by the ministers.
