The government has allocated four billion rupees in order to purchase paddy. Minister of Food Security Gamini Jayawickrama Perera says that these funds will be distributed amongst the district secretaries after consulting the Prime Minister in this regard.
He added that they have informed the divisional secretaries to give the ministry two days notice if there is shortfall in the funds provided, as there could be a delay in the process.
The Minister also added that the allocated funds will be remitted to the relevant divisional secretariats once they are provided with the money by the treasury.
