Issuing a letter to the Minister of Democratic Governance, former chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has commended the commitment of the government to enact the Right to Information Act.
In the letter, former CCC Chairman Chandra Jayaratne notes that he firmly believes that the intent of the proposed Right to Information Act is for the majority of the citizens of Sri Lanka to benefit by the use of the provisions of the act in question.
Chandra Jayaratne notes in his letter to the Minister of Democratic Governance that it is essential that proactive disclosures-led affirmative action processes, must be embedded via the Right to Information and should ensure that these processes are effective in practice within the said public authorities.
