Police launch investigations into Kalutara, Mahiyanganaya killings (Watch reports)

A forty-two-year-old individual was shot to death in Thembuwana, Kalutara on Sunday night. According to police the incident transpired as a result of a dispute between two relatives.

The suspect in connection to the incident has fled the area. The Thebuwana Police have commenced investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, an individual has been stabbed to death in Yakkalamulla. Police stated that the incident had occurred on Sunday night after an argument arose between two groups. Police added that the suspect had accidentally stabbed his father in law during the argument.

The deceased was identified as a Kogallahevage Somapala, a 65-year-old resident of Yakkalamulla. Police further added that another person who suffered injuries has been admitted to the the hospital.

The suspect in connection to the incident has been arrested.

Meanwhile, in another incident in  Mahiyanganaya, a person has been shot and killed in the Kapurugasmulla area. The police media unit said the victim was a 31-year-old who was employed at the Road development Authority.

The reason behind the shooting has not yet been ascertained. However, police said an army deserter who had fled the area is the main suspect.
