Governor of the Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran says that he takes responsibility for not informing primary dealers regarding the latest treasury bond issue of the Central bank.
Speaking exclusively to News1st, the governor said that he agrees that there was a communication gap between the Central Bank and primary dealers on the bond issue.
The Governor of the Central Bank noted that this is not an insider trading at all, and it was just them shifting from one system to another.
Meanwhile, speaking to News1st Mahesh Kalugampitiya – Member of the three-member committee appointed by the Prime Minister to look into the treasury bond issue said that the committee members met on the morning of Monday March 16.
Attorney-at-Law Kalugampitiya said that they intend to question three members of the Central Bank regarding the bond controversy.
However, Leader of the Opposition Nimal Siripala De Silva says that three lawyers from Sirikotha attached to the UNP have been appointed to the committee. He went on to note that Ranil Wickremesinghe can influence the members of this committee and make sure they act based on his whim.
