Police say that the Financial Fraud Division that was set up to investigate large scale Financial Fraud has received 12 complaints so far.
Taking up such a complaint, the Financial Fraud Division launched an investigation into alleged irregularities during the construction of the Kerawalapitiya Power Station, which caused losses of $122 million. It has been revealed that although it was planned to construct the power station at a cost of $331 million, the project could have been completed at a cost of $210 million.
Furthermore, an investigation was also launched into the alleged fraud amounting to Rs. 65 million at the Divi Neguma Department. It is believed that the money was spent on a national convention in November last year.
Investigations have also been launched into the purchasing of an aircraft.
