The final programme of the second phase of the Diyasara Student Guild. which was organized by News1st in collaboration with S-Lon, with the aim of safeguarding water was held in Sadhathissa Central College in Ampara on Friday, March 13.
A group, including Group Director of the Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd, S.C. Weerasekera; Director and General Manager of News 1st, Yasarath Kamalasiri, officials of the S-Lon; and zonal education director of Ampara, Sunil Gunathilleke, were present at the event.
Six schools were granted the opportunity to formulate reports citing how water resources could be safeguarded. Newsfirst and S-Lon assured that grants will be provided to the schools with the best mechanism to safeguard water to implement the mechanism.
Schools selected under the second phase of the programme were D.S. Senanayake , College Meerigama, Tangalle Girl’s school, Ananda Girl’s school in Higurangoda, Ussapitiya Rivisadha School, and Uvaparanagma Medewela Central College.
