UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman says that the government of Sri Lanka should do more to assure the accountability of the country. He made this statement on Tuesday while addressing a media briefing in New York on his recent trip to Sri Lanka.
UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs also said that the government has said that it is committed to using a domestic process in order to address the issues of accountability adding that the government has put itself under a spotlight.
He further noted that the government will report back to Geneva by September on the steps that are in place to establish that independent and credible mechanism.
