Minister John Amaratunga expressed the following views with regard to the Avant Garde controversy and MP Duminda Silva at an event held in Hasalaka.

”It is the court that must decide if the Avant Garde issue is legal or not. They are currently holding investigations. It is as a result of these investigations that Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Former Navy Chief have been prohibited from leaving the country. This is an order from the court therefore I think this court order came subsequent to a request made by the police and the investigative team in order to carry out further investigations. Thereafter court and legal procedures will commence. Charge sheets have been presented in courts against Duminda Silva. When hearings begin tomorrow or the day after they will remand him.”
