Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Former Navy Commander Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake have been banned from overseas travel with immediate effect.
The order came after the Criminal Investigations Department’s reports on ongoing investigations to the Avant Garde case were taken up before the Galle Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The CID also informed court that the former Navy Commander, Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake had acted as a consultant to the Avant Garde security firm. Meanwhile, the Chairman of Avant Garde, Major Nissanka Senadhipathi appeared before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, requesting permission for foreign travel.
The Colombo Magistrate then ordered CID officers to present the letter drafted by the Defence Secretary and submitted to the Attorney General.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court, meanwhile, suspended the foreign travel of two members of the Board of Directors of the Rakna Lanka Security Firm, Major General K.B. Egodawela and Major Wijekone Banda.
