The construction of the 63 kilometre railway line extending from Madhu to Talaimannar has been completed.
The Railway General Manager Vijaya Amaratunga said that the railway line will be declared open on March 14 under the auspices of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that Rs.143 million rupees were spent on the construction of this railway line.
He added that with the opening of the railway line, train services will be available from Madhu to Talaimannar as well as Talaimannar to Medawachchiya.
