Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj who is in the country for a two-day visit called on several political leaders on Saturday.
Discussions were held when the Foreign Ministers of India and Sri Lanka met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday morning.
Attention was drawn at the meeting to recommence the boat service between the two countries.
The Indian Foreign Minister also called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Saturday morning. It is reported that attention had been drawn towards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka on March 13.
On Saturday morning, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the Leader of the TNA Parliamentary Group R.Sampanthan and Leader of the Muslim Congress Minister Rauff Hakeem and other political representatives.
Following the meeting, TNA MP, M.A.Sumanthiran said that the land issue and releasing of prisoners were discussed.
Minister Rauff Hakeem said that Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj expressed her pleasure over the implementation of the national government concept agreed by all factions of the Northern Province.
Meanwhile, President of the Sri Lanka Maha Bodhi Society, Venerable Banagala Upatissa Thera called on the Indian Foreign Minister.
