Mouna Vizhiththuligal or Silent Tears, a short film by a Sri Lankan has won the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in London.
Silent Tears is a story an innocent father and his blind daughter with a doll, spending their days within the walls of a bunker during the final stages of civil war in Sri Lanka.
Film Maker Ilango Ramanathan who is incidentally is the winner of the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in London spoke to News 1st on his achievement for the short film Silent Tears.
The film was also adjudged the winner at the Alexandria Film Festival in USA for Best Foreign Language Film, Winner of the Award of Excellence Special Mention at the Best Shorts Competition – USA and also the Winner for Second Best Short Fiction Film at Chennai International Short Film Festival in India.
Ilango Ramanathan has also directed some of the most loved Sri Lankan TV commercials.
