Minister of Internal Transport Ranjith Maddumabandara says that he has agreed to heed to the demands which led to the token strike launched by private bus employees.

The Minister made this statement following a discussion held with the relevant bus association on Tuesday evening.

The Ministry of Internal Transport has agreed to change the uniforms of private bus drivers and conductors who come under the purview of the Association of Long Distance Bus Employees.

Thereby, these employees will be granted a white uniform in place of their blue uniform in three months time.

Long distance private bus employees launched a strike action on  Monday citing eleven demands.

The strike was temporarily called off after assurances were given by the subject minister to provide solutions to their issues.

As per the promise made by the Subject Minister, a discussion was held with the Association of Long Distance Bus Employees at the Ministry of Internal Transport on Tuesday evening.

Minister Maddumabandara said that both factions  had arrived at an agreement.
