Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party said that its aim was not to postpone the elections.

National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Susil Premajayantha expressed the following views:

”The United National Party has not come in to power in Parliament nor in a Provincial Council. There is attempts made by the Opposition Leaders of those councils and several members to present affidavits to the governors and cause confusion within the administration. The people have not given a mandate for the National Executive Council. Today marks 50 days of the 100 Days, This is a half century for them. They need to bat slowly to reach the century. This cannot be stopped abruptly. The Prime Minister and the Government (are) is aware that the Alliance is 138 members. This government will last only on the President’s 100-Day programme. The changes to the Executive are connected to the election system, which will take time. We do not have any requirement for the postponement of the elections …”
