President makes his first official visit to Jaffna

Speaking in Jaffna on Tuesday, President Maithripala Sirisena said there is no difference of north and south, when it comes to resolving problems faced by the people.

The President reiterated the commitment of the current government to solving the people’s problems.  President Maithripala Sirisena visited Jaffna on Tuesday, March 3. This marks his first visit to the area since his election.

The President was welcomed by Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran. The President then chaired a meeting at the Jaffna District Secretariat, where attention was focussed on problems faced by people in the Northern Province.

Chief Minister of the Northern Province C.V. Vigneswaran expressing his views said that ”Our political problems cannot be solved by our heads they need to be solved by our hearts.”

He also added that the problems faced by the people who live in north and east need adequate handling as it is a war-affected region.

After participating at the Northern Province Coordinating Committee Meeting, the President engaged in religious observances at the Nallur Kovil.

The President also inspected the  President’s House which is under construction in Kankesanthurai, Jaffna.
