The National medicine Regulatory Authority Bill was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.

The establishment of the National Medicine Regulatory Authority is the focal point of the Bill.

The Authority will have a duty to regulate the manufacture, distribution, registration, and licensing of medicinal drugs and devices. The aim of passing the bill is to introduce a national drug policy to regulate medicinal drugs in the country. it also aims to rescind the Cosmetics, Devices and Drugs Act, number 27 of 1980.

The bill will be taken up for debate on Wednesday.
