The police said that legal action could be taken against member of the Frontline Socialist Party Kumar Gunaratnam, considering the reasons for the rejection of his application seeking Sri Lankan citizenship.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the Department of Immigration and Emigration should take legal action prior to the police officer’s effort to do so.

Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Nihal Ranasinghe said that the decision to reject the relevant application, was taken upon legal advice.
