The Chief Minister of the North Western Province, Dayasiri Jayasekara, says the UPFA must correct its past mistakes.

Speaking at an event held in Hettipola on Sunday, Chief Minister Jayasekara expressed the following views:

”What happened to us? How do we rectify it? These have become major questions. Some of our ministers tied up Samurdhi officials to trees. The law was not enforced. They went in broad daylight and attacked institutions like Sirasa. No one has been held accountable for that. The law had gone to the dogs. You know that Rishad Bathiyutheen pelted stones at the court. Shirani Bandaranayake became the Chief Justice while the other Chief Justice was in office and the country had two Chief Justices on the same day. Look at how the situation has worsened in order to cover up a mistake that was made. We did this. Our government did this. We introduced the constitutional amendment allowing a President to run for three terms. It was a mistake to extend it to three terms. We are facing the consequences of that mistake now.”
