Rosy Senanayake, the State Minister of Children’s Affairs says that the allowance of Rs.2,000 rupees for pregnant mothers to supplement their nourishment will be provided, starting next month.
Minister Rosy Senanayake made this comment at an event in Narahenpita on Friday evening which was attended by officials from the Ministry of Children’s Affairs.
State Minister of Children’s Affairs, Rosy Senanayake stated that the decision was taken to provide Rs. 2000 per month to the pregnant mothers. The amount will be given with regard to the nutrition. This Rs. 2000 will be given until child birth and beyond. Mothers after birth face iron deficiency and malnutrition
In order to provide the allowance to pregnant mothers , mentioned in the Interim Budget, details were collected from 4000 maternal clinics involving 7000 midwives.
This initiative will be monitored by the divisional secretariats.The Minister went on to note that, all measures have been taken to initiate this programme.
