Fishing boats that were detained in both Sri Lanka and India due to violation of maritime borders have been released in line with President Maithirpala Sirisena’s visit to India.
State Minister of Fisheries Dilip Wedaarachchi stated that accordingly 86 Indian fishing vessels that were in Sri Lankan custody and 27 Sri lankan vessels under Indian custody have also been released.
Minister Wedaarachchi stated that during the visit, discussions will be held on the relations and issues between the two countries with regard to the fishing industry.
