UPFA MP Chamli Vithanarachchi remanded again

UPFA MP Chamli Vithanarachchi, who was produced before Elpitiya Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama today, has been placed in remanded custody once again till the 26th of march.

The Chairman of the Niyagama Pradeshiya Sabha (PS), Prasad Weerakkodi who was remanded along with Chamli Vithanarachchi, has been released on bail.  The PS Chairman was released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 and cash bail set at Rs10,000 cash.

The chairman and MP were remanded after they surrender to the police in connection to an incident which occurred during the 2010 presidential election campaign where they allegedly stormed into a UNP supporters house, shot into the air and assaulted the supporter.
