Son of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa of the Sri Lanka Navy has gone abroad.

Journalists posed questions to the Lieutenant’s brother, Namal Rajapaksa, at the Colombo Court Complex on Wednesday.

Responding to a question raised by a journalist regarding Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the parliamentarian stated that his brother had obtained leave from the Ministry of Defence and had left the country for a personal visit.

Meanwhile, the JVP says that approving leave for Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa who is already under investigation, is wrong.

In a letter to the Secretary of Defence,  JVP Western Provincial Councilor, Nalinda Jayatissa points out that he had filed complaints against Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa on 13 different facts.

The letter also reads that after the allegations were presented to the Secretary Defence, a three-member committee of navy officers was appointed to investigate it, however, Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa had failed to attend any meetings.

Jayatissa also questions whether Yoshitha Rajapaksa is being given a privilege not due to other officers, because he is the son of the former president.
